Your MOT window
Put in the date your MOT runs out. The days you can test and keep your renewal date light up, with today marked, and you can ring or send a booking request from there.
It's on your last certificate, or check it free on GOV.UK with your number plate.
Or try one:
Your window lights up here.
Pick the date and you'll see the days you can test and still keep the same renewal date, with today marked.
The rules, in plain words
Up to a month early
You can have your MOT up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date. Runs out 15 May? Test from 16 April.
Earlier than that
You can still test, but your new renewal date is a year from the test, so you lose the days in between.
Already run out
You can only drive to an MOT that is already booked. Ring to book first, then drive straight there.
A newer car
A car's first MOT is due three years after it was first registered.
From the GOV.UK guidance on MOT tests. Read it on GOV.UK
MOT due? Ring and ask what's free.
Reviewers have been fitted in the same day. Not sure how early you can go and keep your date? Work it out first.
